Our appointment system
ALL APPOINTMENT REQUESTS to see a GP will be triaged, and you will need to fill in a simple e-consultation form. This will allow us to better understand your needs and enable us to signpost you to the right service.
All requests received will be triaged and prioritised based on urgency, no matter how you contact us.

- Many minor illnesses can be managed by over-the-counter remedies and are of short duration. Please can we ask that you have tried to self-manage your illness before you try to book an appointment.
- Our phone line can be very busy, please can we politely ask that you call after 1am for routine requests such as test results.
HIGH PRIORITY appointments
If your request is of a high priority, please make sure you submit the e-consult form between 8am – 10am so it can be dealt with on the day. For high priority requests after 10am, you will need to telephone the surgery.

ROUTINE appointments
For routine requests please allow 48 hours for a response. You may be offered a routine appointment in 2 weeks’ time or signposted as appropriate.

To cancel your appointment:
- use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- using our E-consult form – click here
- phone us on 01282 911401, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.30pm
- reply CANCEL to your appointment reminder text message
If you need help when we are closed
If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.
NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.
Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.
If you need help with your appointment
Please tell us:
- if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
- if you would prefer to consult with the clinician by phone or face-to-face
- if you need an interpreter
- if you have any other access or communication needs
Home visits
Home Visits requests should be reported to the practice via telephone as soon as is possible.
Your request will be triaged and either referred to one of our clinicians or the Acute Visiting Service (AVS)
Extended Hours appointments evening/ weekend
There are face to face and telephone appointments available in the evening and on a Saturday here at The Richmond Hill Practice and Yarnspinners in Nelson.
